WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO COMMON SENSE?

It’s amazing to me how far we’ve drifted away from common sense and reality, especially about out health. The more intelligent we’re supposed to be, the less we appear to know. Wellness and health need to be our intention and our priority, as we are unable to do anything whatsoever, if we’re sick.

We’re smart! Some of us are clever! But (in today’s world) how many of us are actually wise? Again, put this in the category of wellness and health, where the mind, body, and spirit need to be fine tuned and working in conjunction. According to the dictionary: 1) SMART: is mental alertness, calculations, resourcefulness, quickness and ease in learning 2) CLEVER: is cagey, showing self-interest in dealing with others, and 3) WISDOM: is accumulated knowledge or enlightenment; the trait of utilizing knowledge and experience with common sense and insight and the quality of being prudent and sensible. According to the wise elders I grew up around, ‘To be smart, without wisdom was a ‘game for fools’

RESTORING SANITY TO HEALTH

Last year sometime (I think), Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart did ‘A Rally to Restore Sanity’ where over 250,000 people attended in Washington, D.C. Stephen Colbert was his ‘nemesis’ with the Fear factor. The same sanity/fear dichotomy happens BIG TIME in the world of health; almost bigger than anything else I can think of. The American health nightmare is one the grandest fear stories ever told. In one respect, it’s scarier than the actual story; in another respect, it’s not scary at all. That’s the dual nature of our Universal forces.

So, let’s be clear…when I see headlines like ‘Can Herbs Prolong Our Lives’ or ‘Is Vitamin C Really Good For You’, I’m shocked and appalled at how little most of us know about earth, nature, our own bodies, and how (all things whole, or not whole) relate to being healthy or sick. Explaining this in simple language could really make this a very long article; however, I’ll make every attempt at being brief, without sacrificing too much of the substance.

‘Everything We Need Is Already Here & Always Has Been’ means that the Omnipotent Mind Force, our Spiritual Universe that provides the Stars, the Moon, the Sun and the Planets, also provides everything we need for perfect health. The Stars, the Moon and the Sun are not man made. The same Spirit that manages the Universe (perfectly and without fail) supplied all aspects needed to maintain ‘vibrant health’.

Our perfectly controlled Universe has all the necessary elements needed to keep us healthy and free of disease from the beginning of time

If that didn’t sink in, read it over and over until you really GET IT.

In other words, you can be free and healthy of disease everyday, all your life, and everything you need to make that happen, has already been here, since DAY 1, and this doesn’t mean PROZAC and ADVAIR!

Most ancient people were very well aware of this. However, when contemporary thoughts started to rise to the surface, and someone asked, ‘How Do We Make More Money Doing This?’ Credibility, saneness, and truth flew out the window faster than a speeding bullet.

Thus, a new Health Story was born. Everything that the ancient Egyptians, Asians, Africans, and native Americans knew about wellness and REAL HEALTH was squashed and the Fairy Tale began. The voices of those early, true health professionals and practitioners, were silenced. Previously, I attempted to convey a simple message concerning the imminent need to put into motion events which will ultimately lead to balance in your life. Balance is the first step in achieving success for yourself in any endeavor. The knowledge of the Health Trinity provides you with a means of identifying your problems, and putting your ‘other’ self into action. And your other self is who you want yourself to be!

The first concept of Health Trinity – Physical Health

Physical health, as we know, is the cumulation of habits, diet, and exercise. While I have made it a point to emphasize the need to shed yourself of bad habits (e.g. smoking, drinking, sleeping too much, etc), today I would like to cover some additional things which we can all do to improve our health physically.

First, we can place more emphasis on our diets. Diet is a tricky word, as most people hear it and run for the hills. But eating healthy does not mean that we lose all convenience in our lives, nor does it mean that we cannot enjoy the foods we eat. Actually, I have found that the foods which I now consume, are far superior to any which you’ll find under the roofs of fast food restaurants and so on. The only extra time which we must take, is the time to research which foods are best suited to us. Also, you must choose your eating out locations wisely, and be sure that you incorporate the needs of your diet wherever you choose to go. I guarantee you that this simple adjustment in lifestyle will have you feeling healthier almost instantly. And this is the easiest step, of all of them, to accomplish! In addition to diet, we also have exercise. This is where most have trouble sticking to their guns and become a little weak of will. If you cannot sustain a gym based exercise regiment, at least to start, I recommend finding something which you enjoy or are interested in learning. As I began my trek toward health and achievement, my first step was taking up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I had always been fascinated by the art and decided that this was a good way to channel my energy and afford me something which I would WANT to keep coming back to. It worked!

Today I enjoy a full range of exercising including Jiu Jitsu, Yoga, running, gym exercises, and more. You are not limited in this aspect. And you must shed yourself of shame or the expectation of immediately excelling at whatever it is which you choose. Opting for a better life is nothing to be ashamed of, and with effort and practice, you WILL improve. You may also find that in addition to improving your health, you are adopting valuable lessons and principles along the way. In this, you may just find your definite purpose!

Make an attempt to take this first step toward your health, and toward your success. As I said, balance is only the beginning. But with this, we can access our mind’s potential and are capable of achieving anything we wish!

So, if you suffer from IBS (or irritable bowel), one of the biggest questions you always face is – What can you eat? What diet will not flare up your symptoms? And what foods will actually help & heal your stomach?

There are many theories and diet programs that have been proposed for Irritable Bowel. In this article I'll examine the main ones I've tried, and then share what has worked for me in my 5 years of first hand research with this condition.

There are no Right or Wrong Foods

The first biggest myth I have to debunk right now, is that of "right foods". The truth is that there is no right or wrong food.

And every digestive system is unique. And every condition is unique. So, what may have worked for others may not work for you. On the other hand, what works for you may not work for others.

In this article, and the book you may choose to buy, I'll share some of the common foods and recipes that have been known to work. But the key thing in looking for the right diet with Irritable Bowel is to do this with a sense of experimentation. Track your diet and see what works for you, under what condition.

The other thing is that the food is sometimes related to the problem you're facing at the moment. For example, if you're experiencing gassiness at the moment – it's obviously best to avoid foods that would aggravate that.

Do Soluble Fibers Help Digestion?

You may have read in several books that foods rich in soluble fibers taken in small quantities over time can help IBS patients stabilize their digestive systems. Since it's one of the most popular theories out there, I gave it a good, hearty shot.

In my case, soluble fibers didn't help too much – although they didn't hurt either. I've read of several case studies where long term use of soluble fibers has helped improve the strength of the digestive system. In my case, they may have helped slightly – but a huge difference.

My advice to you is to try out soluble fibers – if it hurts, stop within the week. If it helps (or is neutral), then continue this as a lifestyle habit. Make soluble fibers part of 1 or 2 meals each day. So, it may be a safe bet to eat these foods when in doubt:

* Oat / Oat bran

* Dried beans and peas

* Nuts

* Barley

* Flax seed

* Fruits such as oranges and apples

* Vegetables such as carrots

* Psyllium husk

The acid-alkaline balance

Our body has a sensitive balance of acid and acidic content. This is known as the pH balance (you probably remember it from 9th grade chemistry). Usually when we lose this balance we end up getting acidity.

The problem is that almost everything we eat is acidic! Most meat, breads, coffee, soft drinks, and even fruits are acidic … So, how can regain your alkaline balance?

The easiest way is to drink lots of water. Yes, 2-3 liters of water each day will dilute the acidic effect and keep your pH balance normal. If you want to go one step further, drink alkaline drinks. This includes green tea, barley, wheat grass, lemon water, mango / watermelon / apple / guava juice and herb teas.

Fresh, Vegetarian Food Is The Easiest To Digest

Consumption of what the authors called fruity vegetables reduced asthma symptoms. What are fruity vegetables – these are – tomatoes, eggplants, cucumber, green beans, and zucchini.

Do you need a juicer to do this? No you don’t but it is much easier to get a good intake of fruit and even vegetables by juicing them. It makes getting the right amount of healthy vegetable a day an absolute breeze. And using a juicer is fun anyhow.

The Neti Pot

Well known in the Yoga world the Neti Pot was otherwise ignored. Until that it became a celebrity by appearing on TV. Now there are numerous models of Neti Pot and much endorsement. Simply put, the Neti Pot is an aid to hygiene. It is used to rinse the nasal passages and rinse pollen and other environmental allergens away reducing symptoms of for example hay fever and sinus headaches.

Usually when you buy a Neti Pot you get some salt to use with it. Following the simple instructions you put comfortably warm salty water in the Neti Pot and turning your head to one side simple allow some of the water to flow into one of your nostrils. The water will flow into one nostril and out the other one provided the recommended head position is used.

According to WHO globally dengue disease is 10th most common cause of mortality
Two-third of the world population is at risk of contracting dengue fever. There are 50 -100 million cases of dengue fever each year. Dengue fever (DF) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) are caused by dengue viruses (genus Flavivirus; family Flaviviridae). Dengue viruses are small, single-stranded, RNA viruses. There are four antigenically-related but distinct serotypes, dengue 1, dengue 2, dengue 3 and dengue. This virus enters the human body through the bite of Aedes mosquito that carry one of the four strains of dengue virus.

There are basically two strategies employed:

1. Study of vector population

2. Evaluation of possible larvicidal activity of some selected plant extracts

On the ground of above strategies and experiments we concluded that A. Squamosa and A. Indica are Good inhibitors of mosquito (Aedes aegypti) breeding. Even if temephos seems to be more effective, leaves extracts are bio degradable, environmentally safe and non toxic to humans as compared to synthetic insecticides such as Temephos or DDT.This study will help to provide basis for developing more effective prevention strategy including bio environmental factors responsible for mosquito breeding & new mosquito control measures.

Research papers highlighting this problem and possible solutions were presented in National conferences on medical microbiology and biotechnology: IAMM, 2004, Mumbai and Anna university Biotechexcellence 2005, Chennai, respectively. As far as culicidae family is concerned knowledge of developmental biology is limited. Therefore it is necessary to study and try to modify the mosquito development in a such a way that mosquitoes will be recognized as friends of human kind and not nuisance.
