For the exercise activists and the occasional exercise participant alike, going to the gym, like all female endeavors, requires a great outfit. If fashion were irrelevant in the fitness world, tennis shoes would not come in the variety of colors and styles that they do. When we feel good in the clothes we wear, regardless of the occasion we walk a little taller due to the confidence radiating from within. And who among us doesn’t want that extra push when working out? On this note we reflect on the top 10 reasons to look your best at the gym.

1. Motivation and confidence!

Fitness apparel is no exception to wearing nice clothes and feeling great in them. Feeling good about yourself from head to toe is one of the many perks of a great outfit. When you mix it with exercise and advancing your physical health, imagine the body confidence your going to have! Having so much extra motivation about how your going to look even better in your new pants will keep you going for that extra set of reps! Achieve your goals by rewarding yourself with a fitness activewear outfit!

2. Function

Fashion aside for a moment, today’s activewear brands offer so many new perks. Companies use fabrics that wick away sweat from your body and keep you dry throughout your workout. Activewear fabrics breath wonderfully and move with the body, allowing you to feel cool and your clothing to move effortlessly as you do. Also, the activewear fabrics are often colorfast, so wash after wash the colors stay vibrant!

3. Flattering

We all have areas on our bodies where we wish we had a tad extra “concealing.” Activewear can be quite flattering. Most high end brands are made from a tight stretch material that actually makes you look slimmer. When paired with darker colors it will immediately create longer, leaner, flattering lines.

4. You never know….

You never know when fate is going to play a hand, so always be prepared! You could meet the man of your dreams coming off the elliptical. The gym is a great place to meet someone who shares similar interests.

5. Compliments

The gym or yoga studio is a very social place where chit-chat normally occurs. Looking your best is a sure fire way to draw in those compliments to no end! Who among us doesn’t love getting a compliment?!

6. Motivate fellow gym goers

We all know that guys at the gym work out harder when a girl in cute workout clothes walks past. By looking good you are motivating those boys a little bit harder.

7. Competition

Lets be honest here ladies; we are all competitive in one form or another. Who can run the fastest, who can do that yoga pose a little bit deeper and who can climb the most stairs. No matter the venue, the best dressed is always a top contender. Who is wearing the best activewear?

8. Save time

Looking good at the gym means you look good on your way to the gym and immediately after the gym. Whether you are running an errand before or meeting the girls for a drink after, a well placed gym outfit can save the wardrobe changes without sacrificing the fashion!

9. Consider the alternative!

Now working out is not like going to the Oscars; we do not spend three hours on our hair and makeup prior, but some effort is still needed. How do you get that extra self assured boost when you are wearing a stained sweatshirt and dripping with sweat stains?!

10. You deserve it!

You play hard and you work even harder! Its ok, and even necessary to spoil yourself every once and awhile. It will do you a world of good to allow yourself to indulge in something that not only makes you feel fantastic but helps your health as well!

Looking good at the gym is about achieving you highest self greatness. When we look and feel our best we preform our best. Performance is altered by our emotional and mental state. Amazingly enough, something as simple as an activewear top and matching pants will have huge impacts for the …

Growing chamomile tea will not only  benefit your health, it will entice your senses. The scent of the tiny daisy like flowers of the Chamomile plant smell like freshly cut apples.  Chamomile should be a part of every basic herb garden. It is a hardy annual that adds beauty, attracts bees and butterflies due to the sweet fragrance the blooms give off, and makes a sweet flavorful tea. This is one of the pleasures of growing herbs.

One of the safest and gentlest of herbs, Chamomile has been used for centuries for medicinal purposes. Ancient Egyptians used the ground flowers to drink for fighting colds, calming nerves and alleviating skin irritations.

Modern science is now proving that the ancient cultures knew what they were talking about. Here are nine reasons you should consider growing Chamomile as part of your basic herb garden:

  • Chamomile has proven anti bacterial properties that enhance the immune system. It can be used in a steam for respiratory ailments such as hay fever, sinus infections and asthma.
  •  Has been used to decrease inflammation. The unsweetened tea is used on the skin to fight acne, skin      irritations and bee stings.
  • Chamomile has been proven to have properties that relax the muscles. Taken as a tea, it helps with menstrual cramps and sore muscles. It can also be used in a bath, to decrease muscle soreness and improve skin irritations. The sweet scent from the bath water will also brighten your mood.
  • Chamomile when made into a tea is known for its calming effect and it often taken before bedtime to aid in a good night’s sleep.

More drinking and growing Chamomile tea benefits your health

  •  New research studies show that the tiny daisy like flowers may have a chemical that will decrease the complications of Type 2 diabetes. This chemical has an affect that increases the ability of the cells to allow sorbitol to pass through the cell wall. In Type 2 diabetes, the sorbitol builds up outside the nerve cells and eyes causing pain and blindness.
  •  A cup of Chamomile tea to rinse your hair after it has been washed will bring out the gold highlights in brunette or dark blonde hair.
  •  If you are an avid gardener and start your plants indoors, Chamomile tea sprayed on your plants will prevent the seedlings from developing any type of fungus.
  • Used in composts, Chamomile tea is thought to increase the calcium level of the soil.
  • Chamomile is safe for babies and is often make into a tepid tea to ease gas pains and soothe a teething baby.

There is nothing more soothing and appealing to the senses than to experience Chamomile tea made right from the blooms out of your own garden. I drink dried loose leaf Chamomile tea in the winter. But, in the summer, taking time to go out and pick the blooms and smell the sweet scent relaxes me. As I wait for the tea to steep, I experience the refreshing scent of newly cut apples. As I taste my tea from the garden, it is a lightly sweet taste that I feel does not need any sweetener added.  I know that when I use the loose leaf dried Chamomile tea, I often use a spot of honey or a touch of apple juice.

Drinking and growing Chamomile tea not only benefits your health, your senses. The addition of this plant will benefit your garden as well. I hope you will choose to make this herb part of your basic herb garden year after year.

Most people don’t like going to the gym. It’s hard to find inspiration and no one wants to spend the rest of their day working out, especially after a long hard day at the office. Having a personal trainer helps provide that extra bit of motivation that you can’t squeeze out of yourself and they can help you push through those tough times when you aren’t “feeling it”.

Reason # 1 – Motivation and Inspiration

It’s hard to get motivated after a long day at the office. 8 hours at work is tough enough but then throw on another 2-3 hours for a workout and it’s almost impossible to get motivated for that. Having a personal trainer that can get you pumped up is a plus if it is hard for you to get in the mood. Even if you only need him at first to get that initial motivation, it is so worth it. Find a personal trainer that fits your personality style, that way they know how to get you pumped up.

Reason # 2 – Safety

Not everyone knows how to do the workouts properly and your personal trainer most likely went to school for this type of thing so they know how to do the workouts properly without causing injury to yourself. It is easy to do workouts the wrong way and end up injuring yourself which will put you out of the gym for even longer. Get an athletic trainer to show you how to do the workouts properly so your muscles can get the proper care that they need.

Reason # 3 – Workout Buddy That Doesn’t Quit

Almost everyone wants a workout buddy to come to the gym with them. The problem is that, not everyone is on the same schedule and you are going to have days where you want to work out and your buddy doesn’t. Having a personal trainer will always ensure that you have someone there with you that will never quit. It’s nice to have a friend tag along but it sucks when they cancel or can’t go because they are too lazy or just don’t want to. Get someone on your side that has a passion for working out.

Having an athletic trainer can make all the difference when you are trying to get motivated and create a consistent routine. Spend the extra money and hire yourself a personal trainer for while your at the gym.

Many people will tell you that you need to have Goals in each of a set of defined categories. I’m less strict about that, but I definitely think you should have Goals for your Health. How do you have health Goals you may ask?

First you need to take stock of where you are right now. Go to your doctor and have a full physical done, including blood work. Most insurance will cover this as part of your preventative care, except for the blood work. Get your weight, your cholesterol and everything else you should track noted.

Then you need to determine what the ideal is for all of these. Ideal weight. Ideal cholesterol. Ideal glucose level and so on. Wherever you’re not in that ideal range, you need to create a plan to get there. Your doctor will give you ideas. They LOVE doing that.

Now WHY do you need Health Goals?

Without good Health, nothing else can get done.

I speak from experience here. The last month or so I have been trying to get over a bout of bronchitis. It knocked me down for a couple of days early on, and it just keeps hanging on. It’s draining my energy and creativity, and it’s really knocked me off track on pursuing my Goals this month. It’s essential to be physically and mentally able to actually DO the work to achieve your Goals.

Without good Health, what you do isn’t as productive.

When we’re sick, our bodies are busy fighting whatever bacteria or virus has attacked us. Or our bodies are busy healing from whatever pain or injury we’re suffering from. When you can work at all, you simply aren’t going to have the energy to get as much done. It affects your thinking and your ability to make things happen. It can affect your judgement too and cause you to make costly errors.

Without good Health, we aren’t as motivated to get things done.

Let’s look at weight here. When we’re overweight, it’s more difficult to get excited about certain things. We can be self-conscious about how we look compared to those we see as Successful. Sometimes it’s not our imagination either. Certainly Hollywood makes us think you have to be thin and beautiful to be a Success. Look at leaders in places you’ve worked or know. Does upper management tend to be fat and ugly or thin and good looking? In my experience, thin and good looking gets you farther.

Without good Health, we are more stressed than ever.

When we’re not at our optimum health, it’s stressful. When we’re sick, we naturally want and need to rest. Yet we know there are so many things that aren’t getting done. We NEED to get up and do something, but when we do, we can’t do it for long or we make a mess of it. Poor Health itself is stressful. It creates extra demands on the body to carry extra weight, process more sugar, salt, fat and chemicals than it should or to pump blood through clogged arteries. Not to mention the physical stress to joints and muscles.

Our Health is the one thing we cannot ignore when we set our Goals. It’s too important. Our Health is what enables us to think and do the work well and quickly to achieve our Goals, but it’s not just a tool to do that.

Our Health has to be good to excellent if we’re going to be the best that we can be.

We are really out of shape! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, two out of every three Americans are overweight and one-third is clinically obese. Regular exercise would greatly improve the situation, but according to the American College of Sports Medicine, less than half of all Americans get the recommended amount of exercise. This is compounded by the fact that more than 50% of the people who begin an exercise program abandon it within the first six months. This happens for five primary reasons: injury, a lack of time, boredom, a lack of support and a lack of motivation. The good news is there are specific steps we can take to address each of these problems.

1. Injury. Injuries are the single biggest reason people abandon their exercise programs. An injury can include significant damage to muscle tissue such as a sprain, or the minor muscle damage that causes soreness. Either situation can diminish your motivation to exercise. The most effective way to deal with injuries is to avoid them. You can do this by warming up before exercise, by starting with a simple exercise regimen and expanding it over time, by learning the proper form for every exercise, and by engaging in a variety of aerobic and strength training activities.

2. A Lack of Time. The number one excuse for not exercising is, you guessed it, a lack of time. No one ever thinks they have enough time to work out but the truth is, you only need to spend about 30 minutes, 5-6 days-a-week to get significant health benefits from exercise. In addition, you don’t need a formal exercise regimen. Instead, try to make increased physical activity a part of your daily life. You can do this by cycling to work or school, by engaging in physical activities with your children (e.g., throwing a Frisbee), by participating in sports activities you enjoy (but be careful, this is how injuries often occur), by walking on a daily basis, or by doing household activities (e.g., mowing the lawn, shoveling snow).

3. Boredom. Another reason people stop exercising is because they get bored. Therefore, it is important to have variety in your physical activities. Try to do different exercises day-to-day or week-to-week. Select activities you enjoy, not those someone else says you should do. Remember, there is no best exercise. Anything that gets you moving will enhance your fitness and overall health.

4. A Lack of Support. It is difficult to engage in a successful, long-term exercise program without the psychological support of your family, friends and even co-workers. Develop this support by exercising with others. This is especially powerful early in your exercise regimen. It is much harder to skip a workout if you have one or two friends exercising with you.

5. A Lack of Motivation. Each of the aforementioned factors can have a negative impact on your motivation to exercise. However, at the end of the day, you must define your reasons for exercising. Are you trying to get into shape for an athletic event? Perhaps you want to look better for an upcoming social engagement. Maybe you want to reduce your risk for disease. Whatever your reasons are, clarify them in your mind and always keep them in front of you. One way to do this is to write down your reasons for exercising and post them in highly visible areas. This will give you a constant reminder of why you are exercising and can motivate you to continue through difficult periods when your enthusiasm is low.

This new trend of buying smartwatches or fitbits is far from being over. While 2015 was the year of Apple Sports, Garmin Vivoactive and Samsung Gear S, 2016 will continue to be the year people will purchase smartwatches. However, instead of buying more expensive ones, they will go with Fitbits and with gadgets that cost less and have more features, such as Sony SmartBand or Samsung GearFit.

Buying Smartwatches – Why this Trend will Continue to Grow in 2016?

Trends are dictated by people and by the needs of the consumers. More and more people are in desperate need of a device that would keep them accountable and help them keep track of their fitness goals. That’s exactly why they choose to invest in fitbits and smartwatches.

While a FitBit is a tiny health & fitness tracker that clips to your pocket or bra, a smartwatch rests on your wrist. The difference between the two is that a FitBit’s only purpose is to encourage you to stay healthy and gets you moving towards reaching your fitness goals, while a smartwatch has a wide variety of features, including but not limited to receiving notifications, using the GPS, answering calls, taking photos or browsing online. Both devices connect to your smartphone.

People will continue to buy smartwatches because these gadgets will keep amazing them in the near future. Here are 5 big reasons why smartwatches will continue to be hot in 2016:

1. They are More Useful than Ever

For starters, smartwatches are not anymore goofy looking, clumsy and hard to use. The models released at the end of 2015 look much more appealing and have tons of great features. For instance, GALAXY Gear SM-V700 is equipped with a sideways camera that rests on the strap and can take quick photos. Moreover, both Android and iOs platforms have greatly improved and have become more user friendly, offering users a more stable experience with less bugs.

2. Smartwatches are Getting Cheaper by the Day

Another reason to invest in a smartwatch in 2016 is their amazing price. For instance, the first generation Motorola Moto 360 can be purchased with less than $150. The same can be said about Asus Zen Watch. This smartwatch is twice the price it was one year ago.

If you want to test the smartwatch waters, now it’s probably the best time to do so.

3. They Use Technology at a Whole New Level

Smartwatches have managed to nail the tech industry. Even though the arrival of these new gadgets came with a false start, now the manufacturers have been able to greatly refine the design and tweak the technologies used, creating masterpieces equipped with tons of features. For instance, Galaxy Gear S2 is equipped with beautiful rotating bezels that make it look gorgeous on your hand.

You can now use your smartwatch to keep you accountable, answer calls, type messages, record photos, record voice, navigate the internet, buy a new product online or even turn your dorm light off or turn the ignition on from afar.

4. Talking to your Wrist is Quite Fancy

Another reason the smartwatch industry is going to explode in 2016 is the simple message they convey – talking to your wrist is a futuristic action, something that makes you look great and feel in control.

5. A Whole new Market

Smartwatch apps are going to explode, and many developers will make millions of dollars. This industry is growing at an astounding pace, just like the app industry for smartphones. Investing in a new smartwatch helps other people to make a living out of what they love to do.

Buying Fitbits over Apple Smartwatches – A Whole new Trend

More and more people choose to invest in cheaper fitbits instead of spending $400 on an Apple Sports. Even though the Fitbits’ sales have dropped right after Apple smartwatch was launched in April 2015, they have gone up at the end of 2015. At the moment, Fitbit is again at the top of the fitness tracker industry, with over 13 million devices sold only in 2015.

In 2016, experts expect an increase of up to 20% in smartwatch and Fitbit sales, as the population …

Joining the gym and taking a friend with you or having a personal trainer to back you can be fun. The trainers work on exercising that is fun. They encourage you throughout your program, whether long or short-term, to make sure you gain the best results in the long run. With workouts being fun you will be more inclined to want to go train on a regular basis.

Remember you will also be able to choose to take the gym up on their nutritional advice or their rehabilitation services.

When you choose to join a gym, you will find that with th help of the personal trainer you will be able to achieve your goals within a shorter period. This is because you learn how to do each exercise properly and your workout program is focused on helping you achieve your goals, rather than you trying to put your own routine together.

Further, a gym is a community and you will soon get to meet other people. It’s a social experience where you can get the training you need at a price you can afford. If you are looking for a five start type gym experience then you should consider a luxury gym focused on providing a comprehensive all-inclusive service that is to the finest of standards.

The type of facility you decide to join and what you feel is important, is entirely your decision. Ensure you join a facility that motivates you and supports you to help you achieve your goals without delay.
